    Toilet flange size
I am repairing the toilet connection because the metal ring was rotted out. Because the pvc portion was all still solid and basically all fittings back to the stack, the plumbing supply place recommended I use a cast iron insert that slides inside the existing fitting. The pvc is 3". The opening at the bottom of the insert looks to be only about 2.25 or 2.5" This seems small for the toilet to drain through. Am I asking for problems?

Hmm, maybe I wasn't specific enough with my question.
I am planning on using a cast iron insert inside my old 3" pvc flange. The opening in the cast iron is only about 2.5" in diameter.

Should I expect frequent clogs in this toilet? Or is this an acceptable solution?

    Thanks for any input.

Go to a plumbing store and buy a part called a "Bay Flange" it comes in two pieces and will fit right in the same grove that the old metal rusted away from. I have used many and they work great. Make sure is it a "Bay Flange" Go to Google and click on Moss bay flange.
