    Humming pipes cause and remedy
Pipes have started to hum. Is there a danger of pipes bursting. Should the main water supply be turned off?

    Hello StillwaterMN,

There is some mechanical device, that is either touching your pipes, or there is something wrong with this device. As a result it emits sound that transfers via your plumbing system throughout your house.

Is this humming sound continuous 24/7 ? Or does it go ON and OFF throughout the day?

Do you have hot water circulating pump in your house ? Water pressure regulator ? Booster pump ? Filtration system ? It could also be a partially closed water valve installed anywhere in your house.

I don't think you need to turn main water supply OFF, as pipes are not in danger of bursting. But you should definitely investigate where is this noise coming from and proceed with repair accordingly.

    Back to you
