    Getting water tested
I rent an apt in a private house. My sink water is always cloudy and sometimes
With a tinge of brown. I would like to find out how safe my water is. I use a
Britta filter but I tend to wash veggies, etc. without filtering.

Is there somewhere I can get a testing kit or have someone come and test
It?? I live in New York and the house is about 60 years old.

Call your city water department and ask about testing the water. It is most likely the pipes in the house and or a poorly maintained water heater.

I just checked out Amazon, the site you sent... there are lots of testing kits...
Even for lead. I appreciate your input. Should have thought of Amazon
Myself... I use them all the time.

I now assume NY city and not state. Most city water supplies come from the same source. If you are not in Detroit it should be safe but ask the NY water department if they will check yours for you.

Sears used to test water for free. Have not done it in few years so I am not sure whether they still do it. Give them a call.

Agree. You are in a rental and have little input as to what you can actually do. Start with your local water department.

Just FYI: Veolia, the giant company that gave Flint, Mich a clean bill of health
To the poisoned water supply also operates our wastewater treatment plants and
    Collections facilities.
