    Pregnancy and stds
I was told I had trich 7 months ago at a check up after having my daughter. I was treated but my husband was not. He said that he had no symptoms and did not think he had it well needless to say we had unprotected sex and now I am 5 weeks pregnant. I've learned that trich in men usually show no signs so now I am worried that we made a mistake and I may have contracted it again. I'm not having any symptoms but I'm worried about my unborn baby. How long do I have to be treated before my baby is harmed? I have no insurance right now and in the process of getting some so I can see my ob. Thank you for your help.

From what I read this will not cause harm to your child during your pregnancy though it is associated with early labour. The bottom line is that you have time to get treated for Trich.

The important part is: You're now a NO SEX ZONE until both you AND your husband are treated. The question I have is how he or you contracted it in the first place. None of my business but the fact is both of you need treatment. Sooner is best.

Well when I was told I had it my Dr told me that it doesn't necessarily have to be contracted by sex. You can get it from warm wet moist places like Jacuzzi's and even toilets that someone infected has used. Thank you so much for your help.

Your doctor told you that? It's time to find a new doctor then. You cannot contract STDs from a toilet seat. Trich is a parasite that is passed from an infected person to a non-infected person.

This parasite can cause problems with your pregnancy, particularly preterm delivery/miscarriage if ver early in pregnancy.

Since this his is the second time you have contracted this, it's important both you and your husband get treated. Most men never have symptoms.

You and your doctor should have discussed the husband issue, and when you were treated, was to know there were no signs in men often.
And at that point, you should have said no sex, till he was tested.

Now you do not know if you have it or not, and should see your doctor. I am sorry you have no health care but that is not an excuse not to seek proper care.

As noted, at this point, sex is a NO, till you both are tested and treated if needed.
