I am being blamed for plumbing issues with my dishwasher from the neighbor below me.
    Hi,

I am on the 3rd floor in a 3 floor building. Every time I run my dishwasher the neighbor on the 2nd floor says his kitchen sink is getting my soapy water. My neighbor below is asking me to pay for a plumber. My dishwasher runs like a charm with no issues whatsoever. I won't avoid my responsibility but do I need to call a plumber? Is this really stemming on my end?

    Thanks,
    Andy

Sounds like the landlord has a problem. Like down on the 1st floor a small clog or on the 2nd floor. It would seem that you are clear down to the 2nd floor sink.

Agree. That could only happen if the drain is stopped or partially stop below the second floor.

Thanks. That's my gut feeling too. I even told him as much but apparently he doesn't get any watery "reflux" when he runs his dishwasher. Only when I do. By the way, it's a condo so no landlord. Andy

Yes any problem between units would be an association issue.

The clog is not in your unit, most likely the second or even the first floor have a clog. Like others have said, if you are part of a HOA the association declaration would explain who pays for common property issues. The bottom line with a HOA is you all pay equally through your dues

Plumbing for a dishwasher? [ 3 Answers ]

How far can you run the hoses for a dishwasher? The place we live now doesn't have room for a dishwasher near the sink, and we don't have easy access to the floor pipes, so I wanted to connect the dishwasher to the sink pipes, how far can I run everything before it is too far?
