    Pelvic exam while on period
I had a pap smear done a couple of weeks ago and the Dr told me that my cervix was inflamed and gave me medicine and told me to come back for a follow-up for my results of the pap smear. My period is due a couple of days before my follow-up appointment. Will I still be able to go to my appointment

It would not be advised to have an exam - pelvic while menstruating. It would be difficult for the doctor to get accurate labso completed. It is difficult to see the cervix clearly, and the symptoms [i.e soarness] can be worst.

My gynecologist has done a pap on a very light day. Call the office staff to ask. They'll know if it's OK or if you need to reschedule.

Bah, this sounds like a stupid concern, but I don't know, it bugs the hell out of me. My girlfriend is (most likely) about to go on birth control, which means she's going to be having her first pelvic exam. And from what little I know of it, it's a... stretch... in most cases, so I guess my worry...
