    Film in the 1950's involving father doing psycho manipulation of his son
    I remember seeing this film and thought it was directed by Preston Sturges, but I can neither find the name of the picture nor the name of the director.

    I recall that the Father character was showing a child the same movies (super 8 or 16mm presumably) projecting them on the boy's bed or his walls at night so that the boy had to look at them, kind of like a precursor of Clockwork Orange.

    Definitely 'Peeping Tom'. 1960. Michael Powell, director.
