    Hot water heater not working
I have a State Select hot water heater about a year old. The pilot is on however the blinking light indicates a High temperature shutdown and it won't heat up the water. Is there a way to reset it?

    Thanks,
    Marco

Contact state industries through this link. State Industries | Contact Information.

These guys should be able to get you up and running pretty quickly!

"The pilot is on", suggests that the water heater is gas, Bob. State Industries is making so many new gas valves, as are all the other water heater manufacturers, that's it is hard to give exact advice on this issue. I always call their tech. support line on these water heaters... sometimes all parts are under warranty within year or less!

Trying to dig a bit deeper. Except for the thermopile and thermocouple there is no power going to a gas heater so where does the blinking light gets its juice?

Almost all new gas water heaters are changing out their old gas valves for newer self diagnostic gas valves... LED blinking light(s) power comes from the thermopile generator in most cases.

    You will soon enough, Bob!

I sell a few watts auto. water heater shut offs... also shuts off the gas. Imagine my surprise when I installed a Home Depot water heater and there was NO THERMOCOUPLE, only a thermopile generator... kinda a problem when the watts shut off valve shuts off the THERMOCOUPLE to interrupt the gas flow... UGH!

A.O. Smith, kenmore, RUUD, Rheem, and Bradford white are all going this route. I'm figuring all gas water heaters are headed this way in the next year or so!

    Have a good day!

Recently had a similar issue with a vent free gas log set. Thermopile, couple and O sensor are all one $150 unit.
