    Disconnected steam radiators
I have two steam radiators on third floor with gas boiler in basement. These two radiators are dead as a doornail and have tried all of the obvious fixes. I don't think they are connected somewhere. Is there a way of finding the disconnection point without ripping open walls and following piping?

Have you tried to bleed them?

No, but I don't see a bleeder valve anywhere. There is the valve to turn off steam to the radiator and the pressure valve at the other end. There are two large nuts at the top of either end about the size of a spray can's width. I don't think those are meant to be removed or released.

A bleed valve would be down low. Look right were the out going pipe exits the radiator.

I have a gas-fired steam boiler 3 yrs. Old and some radiators get no heat. [ 0 Answers ]

My bedroom, bathroom, dining room, and 1/2 of living room are COLD. The radiators in these rooms are cold, no matter how high you set the thermostat. Last year all was well. I called the HVAC tech and he said "nothing is wrong", tweaked a few things and left. No results. I have called him for...

Steam Radiator Noise and No Heat in Some radiators [ 0 Answers ]

I have a new gas boiler. When the thermostat calls for heat, the pipes in the basement bang and clang loudly for about a minute and the basement gets hot. All of the radiators in the house bang softly. Some whistle. Half of the radiators get warm/hot. I have had the pipes flushed out twice. I think...

Steam boiler is returning water via steam pipe rather than through condensate tank [ 0 Answers ]

I have a steam boiler heating system in my home. After steam is produced and goes to the radiators, it is condensating and returning to the boiler via the steam pipe rather than the pipe leading to the condensate tank. It is a two pipe system. The boiler overfills after each cycle and I have to...

Moving steam radiators [ 2 Answers ]

I would like to relocate single pipe steam radiators, basically swap some around by putting larger ones (in colder areas) where small ones are and vice versa. It seems that it should be easy enough to close the valve, disconnect the radiator and relocate. I have no education on this though and I am...
