My daughter, age 54, has been wheelchair bound and on disability for a long time. She could have knee replacement surgery if she'd lose weight, but she eats and eats and gains weight. She has stage 2 kidney disease and primary idiopathic edema in both legs, the skin so thin it oozes and the slightest bump causes an infection. She's on Medicare and has realistic options from many doctors over the years, but will not cooperate for very long. She was admitted as an emergency yet again, this time for a severe UTI and a septic infection in one leg. I couldn't bear watching her put herself through this again, each time worse than the last. She became angry with me, denying her obvious self-neglect, and has cut me off. She has also fabricated a drama among her siblings -- me as the culprit -- and if they too cut me off, it won't be the first time. I'm in the last few years of my life and would like to enjoy them without all this constant drama. Any suggestions?
