Does conviction in Illinois affect sentencing in Va?
My son moved to va 6 years ago after he was convicted in Illinois on a felony drug charge( possession with intent ) I just found out he has been charged in Va with the same charge a class 5... Does Va consider his felony in Illinois from 6 years ago when deciding his punishment? He's 31 and obviously hasn't learned his lesson... He seems to always be able to plea on lesser charge and get probation

Yes it will, or at least it should... those convictions are part of a national database. Virginia is not the liberal haven Illinois has been... and he is likely to get a far harsher sentence here.
