    What does 15 years all suspended but 5, and a year time served in Maryland mean?

    Means they have four years to go.

    Well you are right up my alley as I was a probation officer in MD for seven years and I agree with the person above. The original sentence was 15 years. 10 years suspended means that the person is now sentenced to five years. They won't serve five years in jail, however, if they stay out of trouble they will serve one-third of that. The person has served one year already and they will be given credit for that time against the five year sentence that is left, so now the sentence is four years. One third of that is about 1.3 years.

    HOWEVER, a person in Maryland will be on parole until they reach their max date of 15 years, the original sentence.
