    Are you asking about a galvanized pressure tank or are you asking about a bladder tank? Back to you. Tom

    The tank stores water under pressure. That keeps the pump from having to kick on every time you need water. The pump generates pressure, while the tank simply stores water under pressure. This is true for all types of tanks.
