Make sure you use Pressure Treated lumber. The easiest way to attach a post is to used a shielded lag bolt or a "red head". I usually countersink the lag bolt so it is flush, mark the wall and then use a hammer drill to make the shield hole. They are marked as to what size hole to drill. Then screw the lag in. Red heads are a little different as the screw and shield are 1 piece, but the concept is the same, drill a hole, insert the Redhead, tap it with a hammer and tighten. This is only acceptable for non overhead attachment.

Assuming that post will rest on a concrete patio.

Stand post up against the wall. Mark places near the top, bottom and center of the post that line up with the center of a brick, not the morter. Drill through post with small (3/8") drill bit. Change to a long, small masonary bit. Stand post up against the wall. Drill pilot hole into brick through the holes in the post.

Chose what size bolt you want ot use. Purchase proper size "Redhead" anchor. Drill and insert anchor in brick. You will also need anchor setting tool. Counter sink holes in post for bolt head and washer. Drill out hole in post for bolt. Bolt post to wall.

I live in a community on a hill. The lots are all terraced. I want to build a wooden fence on my property line. Six ft. panel fences are all that my CC&Rs allow. If I build to the side of the rocks and in the soil I will lose almost 2' of property. How can I attach a fence to the boulders?
