Installed new outlets and all of the switches are not working
We changed out the off white outlets for white outlets. Followed directions to a "T" - not all of the switches had the "land" wire attached to them previously so we copied what was done. Now a whole row of lights do not work and two on a row of three lights do not work.

We tried to "bridge" the land wire to each light switch (with the power on) we got a spark but the switches are not controlling the lights coming on and off - just when the wires are touching.

We are also trying to install a light fixture that is hooked up as the directions state but it is controlled by one of the light switches that is not working.

    Please help!

Who gave you what directions and what were the instructions?

It sounds as if you have some receptacle outlets that are switch controlled. If that is so, you more than likely crossed wires belonging for the switches with the Neutral (white) wires that belong to the branch circuit and not the switch loops.
