United technologies 1018 ignitor. Furnace comes on when it thermostat calls for it to sometimes. Other times it doesn't. If you move the thermostat above and below the actual temp, sometimes it will finally start. Other times you have to tap on the thermostat to get it to start.Have replaced thermostat so that is not the issue. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

Tapping to get it started would seem to indicate a loose or broken T'stat wire

Furnace kicks on, flame ignites and heats the exchanger up. But then the fan goes to start and all we get is a click, no spin. Motor is not frozen, you can reach in and spin the fan by hand and then it keeps spinning. Bad run capacitor or bad winding on motor? Motor was replaced 2 weeks ago.

Ignitor works, just not in the furnace [ 17 Answers ]

I posted a question before about how my ignitor kept going out. Well after replacing the ignitor again last night and the furnace not working again this morning, we tested one of the old ignitors. I guess it hasn't been the ignitor after all because when one of the old ones was plugged into 120...

Hi everyone. I am having a problem with my furnace. The ignitor won't lite the gas. I can lite it with a long match and it works fine until the thermostat cuts it off.
