Does a pedicure chair have to be an indirect waste?

I don't see what a pedicure chair has to do with waste. Ones I have been on are just padded chairs and a basin is used for the feet.

Ethan, I'm curious what you mean by "indirect waste"?

Hi Ethan. A pedicure chair can be "indirectly" hooked to a properly vented and trapped waste line in most states.

Hi Parttime. Ethan is probably talking about an "indirect waste" where a drain is run from a fixture but does NOT connect directly into the drain, but connects so the drain is 2 inches or so above the floor drain (or other properly vented/trapped floor sink). In this manner of connection, should a backflow condition or a sewer clog block the sewer drain, sewage will NOT back up and into the pedicure chair.

Hi Tickle. If you were to look under the apron of any code approved pedicure chair you would find a waste connection of some sort...has to drain all the dirty water somewhere, right??

    Good day all!

Thank you Parttime....you're pretty darn helpful, too!! By the way, can I ask your name (if you don't want it made public I understand)?

    Thanks
