    Lingering cough
My son is 6 years old. He had bronchitis about a month ago. He still has a lingering, dry, hacking cough when he is active. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I take him back to the doctor to be checked again? Or is this just a lingering effect of the bronchitis?

There are two types of bronchitis, acute and chronic. In a young person the symptoms would be acute meaning easily cured, however, the cough will linger until the bronchial tubes and lungs heal and this takes time as long as there are no smokers in the household. If it eases your mind, or the cough continues, please take him to the doctor to ease your mind.

While I have to agree with what Ms. Tickle said, I would like to correct something as well. Acute does not mean "easily cured," but rather, it means sudden onset. Many illnesses present as acute but can become chronic with time.

Lingering headaches [ 1 Answers ]

I have had a lingering headache for more than 3 weeks now. No matter what I take, it just subsides it for awhile. I have a history of migraines, but I take Excedrin Migraine and it always goes away. But not this time. Just wondering what would cause a headache to last like this.
