No Power in Bedroom and No Hot Water
    Hello,

I have 2 50-gallon state select water heaters model number gs650ybrt which are located in a guest room in one of my upstairs bedrooms. Over the weekend we lost power when we plugged in the vacuum in the same room. The room and closet (where the heaters are located) has no power. When we lost power we also lost our hot water on both floors. Both hot water heaters are not working and I'm not sure how or why the 2 are connected. So far we have Not called in electrician or a plumber and would like to know if we can troubleshoot it myself.

My house do not have fuses and I checked the electrical breaker box and all switches are in "on" position. I'm not sure why the power went out when we plugged in the vacuum, we have used that plug several times before. My heater is 7 years old (same years as my house).

Thank you and Happy New Year!

Are these water heaters 240 volt?

If so, I seriously doubt that plugging a vacuum cleaner into a 120 volt receptacle should have any effect on the water heaters.

Are these water heaters and receptacles fed from a secondary panelboard, because it is possible that something has happened to the feeder for that secondary panelboard.

    First, reset the main breaker.

Next, reset breakers to the water heaters. All logic says that these water heater should be 30 amp/240 volt. That means that the breakers should be double breakers.

Reset any single pole breaker that you think might control the outlets in the bedroom.

If that does not restore the water heaters and the bedroom outlets, call the power company.
Sounds like you lost power on one of the hot legs of the power coming into the house (you have 2 120V legs coming in). If you have, there should be other things that do not work.

Breaker on the transformer on the pole may have tripped.
