I am putting a workshop together. I plan on running table saw, router,scroll saw, etc and am going to add 2 circuits for these tools, hand tools and others. I will have a separate circuit for my lighting, but I am unsure as to the amperage of the 2 breakers I plan on adding, there will be 6 outlets on each circuit.

I will assume 120VAC tools. You will probably be only using one at a time or possibly 2. I would suggest using 12/2 AWG Romex and 20 Amp breakers. Anything bigger, e.g. 10 AWG would be very difficult to work with. My table saw is 13 AMP and my scroll saw is 2 AMP. I am using 12/2 and 20 AMP breakers, running 12 ft. to the outlets from the breakers.

Just a note - Receptacles in a garage / workshop need GFCI protection.

Will this shop be in the same building as your main service panelboard or a separate building? This is critical in planning the electrical feed for this shop.

How are you planning on containing dust and providing for adequate ventilation?
