Why do you want to bypass it? If its flakey, replace it.

Can't bypass it, it allows small current to control large current. I got a set or relay tester for most vehicles, a little over a hundred dollars.
It plugs into where the relay does, then the relay into that. It allows testing of voltage present at relay, and if the hot and ground to control relay coil is present.
    Need to determine 4 things.
    1 Constant power at relay
    2 hot to the coil
    3 ground to the coil
For a load out of the relay
I would actually test out of the ignition switch, in a rush right now. Can help with the colors out of ignition later if needed.
    I'm betting Ignition switch

    Go to the12volt.com
Enter you vehicle, vehicle wiring, then scroll down to where you see the color of wires out of ignition and what they are(constant B+, Ignition, Start, Acc, etc.
    Good luck
