I am looking to install a sewage ejector pump on my lake house. The house is on the side of a hill and has multiple levels. It has an upper section on a fairly new septic system and an old lower section that was built in the 1930's with an ancient septic system that is too close to the lake to replace. The lower septic system has failed. I believe the best fix is to install a sewage ejector to lift the sewage up to the upper septic system. The only fixture in the lower section is a kitchen sink but I would like to be able to add the following some day:

• washing machine (perhaps draining into a laundry sink if required)
• bathroom sink
• toilet

Looking at the layout of the house the primary concern I have is that there is no easy way to just pump up and drop into a drain like a traditional ejector pump installation. Due to the multiple levels I think I have two choices.:

1. Lift the sewage ~9 feet. Then go horizontally 12 feet and then up again about 3 feet.
2. Or dig a trench beside the house and go up the hill to the upper part of the house.

Are either of these two scenarios acceptable applications. I prefer the first option but am not certain if the vertical section after the horizontal section is allowable.
