Well water not pumping water to any faucet
Having a problem with our well water. Got up this morning to get kids & husband off to work & school & turned the water on & had very little water pressure in kitchen & bathroom was able to flush the toilet twice before noticing this problem. My husband already checked the circuit breaker that was fine. After they all left to start there day I tried the water in Kitchen & Bathroom again & well pretty much nothing was coming out of the Bathroom the Kitchen had barely anything coming from it then all of a sudden brown rust looking stuff started to come out. But now nothing toilet won't flush either has water in it though. Can you give me any other ideas? Please & Thank you. My husband is going to crawl under the house when he gets home & check the pump. He said it was exposed so maybe a mouse or other rodent chewed something? We've had a lot of rain here also don't know if that makes a difference or not.

    Three things:

    1. Is the pump running?
    2. If the pump is not running, then you will want to check the switch to be sure the points are closed. Pull the grey cover off to check this. Careful... that switch is electrical and can bite. Might want to turn off the breaker first.
    3. If you have a filter, try bypassing it.

First it is very early in the game for a specific answer.

When Hubby check the breaker did he just look at it or did he turn it off and then back on. Some breakers move very little when they trip off. To make sure that have not tripped off it is best to turn them off and then back on.

The well it self will not be under the house. The tank (and the well pressure switch) can be under the house. Depending on the type of pump you have, the pump can be under the house or it can be at the bottom of the well.

Since you have no water we know the pump is not running or if it is running it is not pumping water. If the pump is at the bottom of the well and not running or running but not pumping, you would have not water but would not get brown rust looking stuff coming out. A pump at the bottom of the well would be pushing the water from the well to the house.
An above ground pump would be pulling the water from the well to the house.

Therefore as a start, I would guess that the pump is an above ground pump (under the house) and is pulling the water from the well and that you have a broken pipe between the house and the well. Because of the broken pipe it is not pulling water from the well but is pulling a little bit of ground water and mud and soil in from where the pipe is broken.

Keep in mind that this is just a guess with so little information at this time.

At this time the important thing is to turn the pump off so as not to damage it. Pumps are designed to pump water, without the water to keep it cool it can very easily be damaged beyond repair.

So, turn the breakers to the pump off.

Have Hubby post back when he has checked things out and maybe we can help.
