You express your fears very well, but you don't seem very hopeful about anything.
I was hopeful America wouldn't fall for an amateur empty suit. I'm hopeful they won't fall for Hillary. Fortunately my hope is NOT in government.
Hope can have great power, but what he promised also gives many of us chills and some of us were not so stupid as to fall for all the over the top hype coming from his adoring followers. Hope doesn't fill stomachs or create jobs, and he has certainly not fulfilled his role as the great peacemaker and deliverer. You don't bestow an award designated for those who "conferred the greatest benefit to mankind" based on potential. The whole idea of that is contradictory.

I think he won the US election didn't he, no small feat for someone from the back blocks of Chicago who possessed certain political disabilities. He became the black hope. And yes it proved to be a sham as he was just as tainted by the machine as any other politician

I wasn't referring to the local machine although I understand it is formidable but how did he go from social worker to senator? You think he didn't have the kiss of approval?

Lol Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, and Michelle are all products of the Daley machine... but the emperor wasn't? Axelrod was the chief consultant to Mayor Richard M. Daley (who for a time served as the White House chief of staff ), and Jarrett, the mayor's deputy chief of staff. He bought the whole crew with him to the WH . But he wasn't a part of it. Now Rham Emanuel is Mayor .But somehow the emperor ,who surrounded himself with machine apparatchiks was not a part of the "Chicago Way " .

Of course he did .Michelle's old man worked at the ward level .The emperor rode in on her petticoat tails . She was a Daley advisor and Assistant Planning Commissioner.Secretary of Education Arne Duncan .The emperor's Secretary of Education Arne Duncan came out of the Daley machine too.
So how did the emperor get in ? Because he wasn't from the town.
When Obama worked at Sidley and Austin law firm in Chicago, as a civil rights lawyer and teacher of constitutional law, he was assigned a personal mentor... Michelle Robinson. Her father, Fraser Robinson, was a city water worker and precinct captain ,a long time Daley operative. They married ,and the emperor had his foot in the door .

Come on here are the dots... Fraser Robinson begat Michelle... who was hired by Valerie Jarrett to work at City Hall when she was deputy chief of staff to Richard M Daley. Michelle is assigned to be mentor to the young emperor in training . They strike up a Jarrett chaperoned romance and get married . His political career takes off. The same cadre of Daley gumbas (including Daley eventually) from Chi town follow him to the White House and Jarrett still is often the deciding voice in policy . You will recall that Jarrett was once co-chair of the committee to bring the Olympics to Chicago. So what does the emperor do in the first days of his term ? He makes a trip to make a personal appeal to bring the games to the town of his patron.

Dude, once you say to the outlaw drop your gun at gun point, then you aren't supposed to shoot. You're from Texas and don't know that?

The reply to Power is correct .The UNSC affixes no blame to Syria for the use of CW. The resolution doesn't blame Syria for the CW It does say that any perpetrator must be held accountable.

And if he doesn't drop it, you shoot. Obama's "smart power" failed to get that option, Russia and Syria won this one.

They dropped their weapons and now are under an agreement to submit and comply to the international community. We all win this round, without a shot being fired.

Well at least I now understand how the emperor won his Nobel, It's all about potential with you guys, not actual results. I was unaware they had already given up their weapons. Tell you what, next time you play me in football you play a bunch of guys with potential and claim victory before the game and we'll see how that works.

What results? He still has the CW, he is control of the CW, he does not face a military response for not complying, we have no idea if he ever will comply. Russia and Syria got what they wanted, we got egg on our face and those Syrian rebels we're supplying? A number of groups defected to AQ's side in support of an Islamic state. What exactly is it we won?

So since the results you want are not instant then the whole process is a failure? The UN just hammered an agreement out that the process for Assad to relinquish his CW starts next week, so is that better?
