    pole building uprights (6X6's)
Constructing a 40X60 pole building (with 16 foot interior ceiling) in Erie County Pa. I am told that after augering a 14 inch hole , pole needs to be on a 6 inch high pad at bottom of hole. Fill in rest of hole around 6X6 (to ground level) with what?? Mixed concrete? Gravel? Dirt? Dry Sakrete powder?

I would fill the bottom of the hole with 6" of gravel (for drainage, keeps pole from being in direct contact with ground and then pour mixed concrete to above ground level. Pouring the concrete to above ground level keeps water away from your pole. A slight downward taper from the middle out will make sure any water drains off.
