    Women's Health/Menopause
Good Evening, I'm 45 years old and normally have cycles on a monthly basis. However, my last cycle was the middle of May 2013. I was cycle free until Friday 8/30/13 therefore; I thought I was going through menopause. I've taken two pregnancy tests and both are negative and my husband had a vasectomy five years ago. So I knew I wasn't pregnant. I don't have insurance and was laid off in August, that's why I'm not going to my doctor. Do you know what's going on with me?

    Thank you.

It could be the beginning of menopause -- periods stopping for a few months, then starting again. Until you haven't had a period for a least a year, you're not safe from getting pregnant, especially if your husband might still be fertile despite the vasectomy.

A real-life doctor is going to be the only one who can figure this out after taking your history and examining you. Maybe go to a walk-in clinic?

This is much how menopause does, it is not like a switch that it just stops, it will or can, come and go for a few months till it just stops at some point.

There are failures in vasectomy, so that is not 100 percent always. But medical exams, blood tests will be needed to determine actual reasons
