I have a painting, oil on canvas, of a kitchen scene in which a mother is admonishing her son for scaring his sister with a mask. The baby sister is crawling on the floor crying as the young boy has entered the kitchen holding the mask. The mother, in typical Italian style, is waving her stirring spoon at the boy. The painting was signed by A Borsari da Chierici with a monogram RAS in the corner. I have learned this may mean it is a reproduction of another another artist. My painting was purchased in Italy by my grandfather in 1935. Knowing that 'da' means "from," I googled the name Chierici to see if it was a town in Italy. I did get a couple hits, but could not find anything from those towns about this person. One thread in ArtConversation referred to A Borsari as 'her,' so this may be a woman. According to these threads, Borsari painted several reproductions. That is all I know. Who is A Borsari and did the painter only paint reproductions? What is the title of my painting?
