    Infection?
In May of 2011 I broke my ankle and had a plate and screws placed. I had a total of four surgeries on my ankle because of infection. I was on a PICC line for several months. I have had a lump at the incision site for approximately nine months. Just recently it has become very painful. As of last night it is bright red. Should I see someone immediately? I have an appointment scheduled for Tuesday.

It's possible one of the screws have come loose.

It's red, is it hot to the touch?

No, its not hot. Just painful and red. I had all the hardware removed in the 2nd and 3rd surgeries. The lump is the size of a silver dollar
