    Rotted wood inside kitchen cabinets
First, I am a long time tenant in a private house with my own entrance.
Due to a lower monthly rent, my landlord doesn't fix anything.
I am a senior and can't afford expensive repairs, but under the sink
And under the stove, the cabinets inside wooden shelves are nasty...
Rotting wood and under the stove the wood is sinking.

Where do I go for the least expensive repairs (no, I can't do it myself)

Do you belong to a church where you can ask around... do you have any friends that are handy with their hands... male or female?

Churches, senior centers, even town social workers getting help from Habitat for Humanity.

No, not a Christian... but what you're saying is I really don't need a professional to do the job. There are plenty of people looking for odd jobs and I know two
Who probably could do it, but do you have any idea what a fair price may be?

I can't venture a guess because I can't actually see what needs done... sometimes its worse than it looks... sometimes it looks worse than it is. Most of it can be done by someone with reasonible skills... key is finding someone with enough skills. I would recommend getting some references from people these guys have done work for before... you do take a risk getting someone that's not licensed and insured to do work. Sometimes a really big risk.

Building kitchen cabinets and need help with wood choice [ 4 Answers ]

I love cherry but expensive! Looked at maple but seems to be blotchy when stained darker. Ash & Oak seem to have heavy grain. Not crazy about what I have heard about Alder. I like simple but not to fancy and not to rustic. I can't figure out what wood to use and it is making me crazy!

Building kitchen cabinets - what would be a good wood? [ 4 Answers ]

Hi all - I will be building kitchen cabinets soon and am wondering what would be a good wood choice. I will be using the wood for the face frames, raised panel doors, and panels for exposed sides of the cabinets. I am also going to build a bench using the same wood fro the mud room which is off...

Clarification on the rotted wood [ 3 Answers ]

It's not the mudsill that is rotted, it's the rim joist and sole plate and two king studs around an exterior door. Now here's the odd thing, the mudsill is behind the rim joist. The rim joist is sitting on the brick foundation. I've pulled up three pieces of my deck to look at this from the...

Rotted wood [ 1 Answers ]

My daughter and I started to replace the rotted siding on my house and discovered that to my dismay about a twelve foot area of the floor sill is badly damaged by water and a couple of the studs need to be replaced as well. It also seems that the buillders neglected to put any wood sheathing in...

Sewer smell in kitchen, wood cabinets smell [ 1 Answers ]

I bought a house that had sewer smells in the kitchen probably for years. I found the problem and fixed the pipe. We gutted the kitchen and the smell is still there. The subfloor has an odor. And I am worried the tongue and groove underneath it might smell also. If we pull up the subfloor,...
