How do you hook up a thermostat in a coleman evcon air and furnace?
My air was not working so I called a repairman that works on mobile homes and he replaced the main circuit board
And got the air working( $310 ), $180 FOR THE BOARD ONLY. After a few days I noticed the blower cycleing on then off many times while the air was running.I did not think it did that before. I turned the unit off at the thermostat but it still ran.I turned on the heat and nothing happened even with it set at 90.
I called him and this time he said it was the thermostrat, I had a digital, and rplaced it with a Robert Shaw that I bet was only about $10 but he charged me $45 for it.The blower still cycles on and off many times when the air comes on.This bill was $167. Model # DGAT070BDD. I do not think the thermostat is hooked up right at the furnace
After he put in the new board.I feel like I was ripped off. I had installed the digital thermostat and it worked fine ( two years ) up to when the board went out.He said maybe the control board going out burned out the thermostat. I need to know what the wiring diagram is at the furnace so I can check it.

It sounds like the circuit board is bad. There is no type of malfunction I can think of other than one that is electronic. The thing is you really don't even need an electronic board to run a furnace and AC unit. The only thing in a furnace is a fan relay and a fan switch/limiter for heat. The rest of the control system is in the t-stat and the outside unit. The circuit board just has a fan delay in it to move a little air out of the ducts after the AC cycles off. Attached is a wiring diagram. You may need a fan relay for about $15.00 to replace the $180 circuit board, but it works much better. I have been an HVAC mechanic for over 35 years and see many scammers; some get away with it for years and are psychopaths. When you get them in a corner they will bully their way out of it because in reality they have no idea what they are doing. You may email me and I can walk you through fixing it at [email protected] DrTom4444

One further thing: many of those furnaces were recalled for the same problem you described. Go to http://www.mobilehome.com/phorum5/read.php?8,79014 for a list of some affected units. Your bill should have been zero. DrTom4444

I have already paid for a circuit board. There is no way to get my money back. I do not think the t-stat is hooked up right. I can not shut the unit off at the T-Stat.m Not being a tech. I am comfused with the diagram.

Is there any way for you to show me how it is wired? The best thing for you to do is to call a qualified tech because it does sound like it has to be wired wrong. Everything should be controlled at the t-stat. There are labels where the wires are attached at the t-stat (R,G,Y,W, and sometimes C) and at the unit. These should match. It's not hard to wire a t-stat. DrTom4444
