    Roommate abandons house
Three weeks ago my roommate left for a few days out of town to visit family and has not come back. I've called his cell repeatedly-no reply. I've called his folks to inquire but apparently they are not surprised because he recently inherited a chunk from his grandma and reportedly has a debilitating weakness for strippers when he's flush.

There's no written lease, but I understood that a verbal agreement is legal in Florida. He has 4 months left on lease, owes some bill money. If he ends up being a no-show with rent, how long do I have to wait to declare the property abandoned (and his personal property) so that I can get goodwill to come get it or yard sale it. I would need to clean the room pronto and look again for a roommate. Thanks.

Sue him in Small Claims court... find out where he lives (or clubs he frequents) file the suit and have a private process server serve him at his favorite club.

Thank you for your reply, but he's in the wind, maybe in another state, I have no idea where to find him. Also, I need his stuff gone so that I can re-rent, as I risk losing the house without a roommate's help.
