Hunter ceiling fan 4 wire speed control only working in high and low
I have a Hunter fan that I had to replace the speed control . It has 4 connections on the speed control: 1,2,3,and L. I connected the wires one at a time when I disconnected the previous speed control. I can only get the speed to work on high and low. Although it seems to work The quick connect seems loose..
Can I directly connect the wires from the speed control to the lines coming from the capacitor? Is here anything else I am forgetting to do?

Suggest that you check for voltage on each switch setting. Possible that the original problem may not have been switch.

... Don't have anything to do that with... other suggestions... could the loose quick connect be causing it.

Buy a meter, cheap ones available at just about anywhere only $15.

.could the loose quick connect be causing it.
Possible, that's why you need meter.
