    Charged with petty theft, but wasn't convicted...
    Can I get job at the bank, if I have on my record petty theft, but was not convicted? Thank you.

    The arrest will appear on a background check - what happens next is the prospective employer's decision.

    I don't know((( I ask in court, they said I was never convicted. I had 40 hrs community service I remember. Court clerk said, they do not have anything from my case anymore...

    Only you know what happened, did you make a plea deal with the judge for plea agreement

    If you were there and don't know the outcome we don't have a chance!

    I'm going to say, because of the community service requirement, that you were found guilty of something. Perhaps the charges were dismissed after the community service - but the arrest is still visible to certain people running background checks.

    Yes, I have on my record petty theft, under $100, case was dismissed, nulled... Or some like that. I just do not understand what is not convicted, if I have all that on my record.
    So when I filled out application it is was a question (have you been convicted in... ) so, court said I should say NO. ( I asked there're before fill it out)
    But... If they see it anyway, what is the deferents, and do I have a chance to have a bank job?

    I went to court, didn't have a lawyer ( didn't know any better) judge ask me how do I plea, I said guilty... But judge still decide to not convict me... And send me to some class, community service, probation I think 6 months... That is all I know... and remember... Thank you

    If you got probation you were found guilty. People who are found not guilty do not get ANY sentence.

    But what mean not convicted then? Lawyer, who expunging it for me, said I was not convicted...

    Call the Attorney and ask. You cannot get something expunged if it never existed. Expunged means removed. If the Attorney expunged your record something was on your record.
