Craftsman tractor 917.259830
The idler (PTO) for the deck will not fully disinguage so the safety switch is not made so the tractor will not start once it is shut off. I cannot see why it is hanging up. If I reach under the tractor and pull on the deck belt strongly ( engine shut off) it will release, but it is getting harder.?

Your manual is here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/lis_...M/L0808220.pdf And item #56 on page 46 is the spacer for the idler pivot. It needs to be disassembled, cleaned, lubed lightly and reassembled at this location to correct the sticking problem. Peace, Clarke |
