    PID controller
    Hello; need a little help.I recently purchased a Paragon kiln #E9C for heat treating.Specs(115v,12amps,1375watts & max temp 2000 degrees) Would like to install diy PID controller,but have no idea about choosing the right PID for the job.asked paragon but they make one cost is $515.00 way more than I wanted to spend DIY is much cheaper for me!! Icould use some advice!!

    Without any information (sachemic, schematic wiring plan) I would tell you use the Paragon device.

    One major concern you should be aware of is that if you modify the design with an unauthorized device, you will undoubtably void the warranty of the kilim.

    OK thanks for the reply. First I bought the kiln used so there isn't a warranty.actually wanted some pointers on what size SSR(amps) also specs (guidelines) on PID that would match kiln specs given!! Thanks!!

    You could search the manufactuer's website for this information or Google for a manual in the klin.

    What will you be firing in Kiln?

    Does kiln have a cone setter? With timer?

    I will be heat treating knives,tempering. There is no cone setter,no timer.plug it in and go!! That's why I would like to install temp controller!
