Jet engine noise is coming from item #11 in the picture of your toilet.
When the ball cock reaches the proper level from the rising water and shuts off the water intake, the ball cock's rod presses on what appears to be #11 on your diagram and the water shuts off. When #11 is pressed by me by hand, I cannot get the noise to replicate itself nor stop the water flow. I guess the ball cock rod does it all. After the water level is totally reached, the jet engine noise stops. Can you spray #11 with WD40 to lubricate it as sometimes it sounds like it's dragging, or should the internal toilet parts just be replaced? Can I do this myself or should I call a plummer? Please advise. Thank you.

We don't have the diagram you are looking at. I would not call a plumber since most folks can do a total fill valve replace for about $10. This is one I'd recommend Toilets & Urinals | Toilet Installation & Repair Parts | Fluidmaster 400A Universal Toilet Tank Fill Valve | B796112 - GlobalIndustrial.com

I agree with ball. Easy replacement for a person that has basic knowledge of such things. Can be a bit harder for some folks. WD40 is most certainly not a good idea, as it will ruin the rubber and plastic components in the tank. You would be surprised how many times I have been called to a job just to fix a simple toilet repair job done by a do it your selfer. Many times what is simple to some is a complete mystery to others. Not saying you are not smart enough to do it yourself, just that you may not have the skills required to do it, you know? Let me give you an example. I have a regular customer that is one of the best bone doctors in the state. He also likes to think that since he can do orthopedics he should very well be able to take care of minor plumbing issues, right? Wrong. Every time he tries to do a simple plumbing repair, he ends up hitting his speed dial to my shop. It is not that he isn't a genius in is own way, its just that he has no grasp for basic plumbing. Hey, you got to give the guy credit. Its not like he doesn't have the money to call first, he just likes to try it himself first. Now, all that being said, if everybody could simply read some instructions and get the job done right the first time every time, everybody would be a plumber, and the rest of us would be out of a job, right? I can't read a book or get some info online, then give you a new hip, or knee, or shoulder, etc, but I can surely come fix your toilet for much less than an annual physical at the doctors office, lol.
