    What is the first step for my husband t adopt my daughte?
    I have a 4 year old daughter,and I have been married for two years to a wonderful man.My daughter father had left us when I was 8 months pregnant,and 7 months after my baby was born he got married.before my daughter he had 3 kids with 2 different mothers... now he has in total 5 kids with 4 mothers.He never paid child support and haven't saw my daughter since she was 3 months old.My husband had been there since she was 1.5 year old,and to me shedeserves to have herlastname,he would be glad too.
    SO WHAT DO I DO? MY daughter has my lastname instead of the father,for,he never signed the birth certificate.

    First step, easy, hire a Family Law attorney to process the adoption. You need an attorney to make sure the adoption is handled totally legally.

    You will need to get the father's assent to the adoption. The lawyer will handle that.
