Can my wife's SSN from her J1 visa days be used now for tax filing?
    Hi,

I am in the US from June 2012 on a H1B visa and my wife is on H4. Right now, I need to file my tax returns in the Married and filing jointly category. My wife was in the US in 2004-05 on a J1 visa and hence was issued a SSN at that time. Since she is on H4 currently, I am not sure for tax filing purposes, whether we can use her old SSN or we should be filing a W7 to get an ITIN for her. Could you please advise?

She can use the SSN, which will allow you to efile.
