Ok, so this is weird. January 22nd I had a spontaneous abortion. I bled for a bit and stopped. March 10th I had what I thought was my period, lasted two days. First day was a lot of clots, huge. Second day was light bleeding. Anyway, yesterday I woke with some spotting. I felt so nauseous and had back pain. This morning I woke up and went to the bathroom, and I heard something splash in the toilet. I looked, and picked it up (sorry gross I know). It was this quarter sized, grey, hard thing with blood on it. Immediately after my cramps went away. And it seems I've gotten my period? More blood than spotting. What came out? I know what a clot is, this didn't seem like it. We are trying to conceive, but I didn't think I was pregnant. Because of my period. Any help would be great thanks.

You probably miscarried but don't get too discouraged. Before we had all this technology, people miscarried all the time and never knew it happened. If you did miscarry, I recommend you consider that it is proof you are able to get pregnant, and something with this particular pregnancy just wasn't meant to be.

I do recommend that you call your doctor and also be sure to be aware of your blood type. If you are type O-, you need to go in right away for a shot of a medication called "Rhogam" (like today). Ask your doctor if it is needed for you. This is because, once exposed to a pregnancy or a blood transfusion, if an O- mother does not get a shot of rhogam after miscarriage, delivery or transfusion, she can subsequently reject future pregnancies. It's due to potential incompatibility of the fetus' blood type with her own.

Many women do not know about this - I didn't and was left unable to carry a baby to term because I learned too late.

Sorry for your loss - hang in there. Despite my unfortunate failure to carry a child to term, most couples find success. I ultimately adopted and my son is the light of my life, so no need to feel sorry for what I went through - it got me to where I am!

There is a possibility you miscarried but without proper medical help, we can't tell you that for certain. Something hard and gray does not at all sound typical to me (I've had 5 miscarriages at different stages of pregnancy)

Assuming both previous events were confirmed miscarriages before this last episode, is your doctor aware you've had these so often? I highly suggest making an appointment to be seen and discuss options. If you hope to conceive, getting help sooner rather than later is best. There are many reasons a body may reject a pregnancy and some are very easily controlled. Good luck
