My first attempt at plumbing. I accendentially used cpvc primer instead of glue, how long will it hold? So far it is set up tight, caint break it lose.

You have provided little information here...

Like, what were you working on... water or waste pipe?

How many fittings?

However, with that being said, you will not see this last long and will need to take it apart and do the job right.

Priming a fitting only softens it.. it is the cement and the primer combined that creates a WELDED (not glued) joint.

Without welding the joint you could probably never leave the house in peace and not wonder if this pipe/fitting(s) will blow apart and flood the place.

Do it over and use the proper primer and cement!

I was fixing a leaking water line on my water heater. Plus I installed a shut off valve to the water heater. Probably 4 glue joints. I tested on a couple scrap pieces, but couldn't break apart with pliers, is prime a form of glue?

It softens the pipe so the cement can make a better weld.

You need to redo correctly.

Primer is not glue. Glue will make the seal. As above posts suggested, primer will prep pipe surface for glue.

Because they are friction fitted, they will hold-FOR A WHILE. Better to disassemble and reglue rather than have a traumatic water event!

If you did not use both primer/cleaner and cement/glue, you will have a flood shortly. Better shut the water off to the home until you get this fixed up correctly.
