Hi JImmy,
Water hammering can come from a number things but for toilets it is most commonly coming from the anti siphon or fill valve in the toilet tank. They get old or dirty and can cause a real racket as they fill and shut off at the top of the fill cycle. Pull the tank lid and set aside then flush the toilet and listen. See if the hammering happens at the very end of the tank fill cycle. If it does there is a definite possibility that it is the fill valve causing your trouble. They are inexpensive and easy to change out. Here is a little video that talks about it and shows a few samples of what they look like. Good luck |

My one toilet upstairS is constantly driping in the cistern, the flush is weak. My pipes have hughe banging sounds when Washing machine in running and u can hear a contant flow of air pushing its way through the water pipes. Is this all connected? Tracey

How do I get rid of the loud banging noise, after flushing the toilet?
When I flush my toilet the supply line makes a banging noise. I thought hammer happens when you turn the flow off. I tried to drain the pipes to empty the air chambers but no luck. The house is about 15 years old with copper plumbing. Thanks for any help.
