QDRO lump sum subject to 30% tax?
    Hello,
I am an English citizen who was living in America but recently got divorced from German husband who is still in US. I am now permanently in the UK and have abandoned my green card. I received husband's pension through QDRO and want to make a cash withdrawal of about $210,000 to use as a deposit for a house in UK. Its is rollover eligible but I have no status in US anymore. I was initially told that with a W8BEN I would not have tax withheld but would be subject to UK tax laws but now they have said that this was wrong and I am subject to 30% because it's a lump sum. I have from October been getting some income from USA in the form of spousal maintenance. Does anyone know if there is any way I would be able to get some of this 30% which will be about $73,000 back? Thank you.
