    I've had success with slowly swallowing a teaspoonful of granulated sugar or very carefully and slowly swallowing water. You want to stop the involuntary contractions in your diaphragm and restart the normal peristalsis of your esophagus.

    It has always been mind over matter for me. Calm down. Take long deep breaths. Don't hold them but let them out slowly. This keeps the diaphram in constant motion and helps to even out the movement of it. As well lets the muscle shake off the irritation that cause the hiccups.
