ITIN for dependent holding L2 visa
    Hi,

Actually I am going back to India from US on Mid Jan 2013. So I want to get ITIN number for my kids before going back. I want to apply ITIN for Kids. My wife already has SSN.

I have few questions. Could anybody please help me to get the answer of my questions.

    Q. 1. Can I apply ITIN number for my kids in Los Angeles holding L2 dependent visa?
My friend applied ITIN number for his wife without W2 form in Atlanta and he got ITIN number within 4 weeks.

Q 2. If I directly submit document to IRS office then can I submit photocopy of passport, visa & I94 status without notary signature?

Q 3. My wife already has SSN. Do I need to submit her passport & my pasport copy along with my kids' passport photocopies?

    Thanks,
    Indra

The IRS has changed the process. Notarized photocopies of the passport are NO LONGER accepted.

The passport photocopy has to be CERTIFIED as a true copy by the home agency that issued the passport, or by the home country's embassy or consulate.

With that certified photocopy, you can file the 2012 tax return as soon as you get the W-2 and submit Form W-7 to get the ITINs for your children.

Not sure what you mean by profiles, but both will need ITINs.

You will file jointly with your wife and claim your daughtet as a dependent.

That has nothing to do with taxes.

You need to post that question on the LAW forum under Immigration Law.
