    Chest pains
I took an ibuprofen about 20 minutes ago and started getting heart pains and racing/pounding heart. No other symptoms, except really drowsy. Is this serious or just an annoying side affect?

    How old are you?
Was it really just ibuprofin and not a combination with a decongestant or other anti-histamine?

Ibuprofin does not usually produce those side effects, BUT heart attack and stroke are risks if taken not as directed, so it stands to reason that you should tell your doctor. Some people get stomach upset so should take it with food.

I am a 26 year old female. I only took the ibuprofin. I have tried taking it on a few occasions and I have the same symptoms (pain, racing, pounding heart) every time. I'm not sure what causes it, but I will not be taking it anymore. It is weird though, because I got a shot of Tordol and had no reaction.
    Thanks for your thoughts.

The Sudafed with pseudoephedrine in it makes my heart race, but that makes sense. Only available now by asking the druggist because it is used to make meth.

I have no heart problems. But your heart racing with ibuprofin makes me think that you really should mention it the next time you have to see a doctor, especially if there is any family history for heart disease.

Drowsiness at the same time sounds like a big blood pressure drop.

Ibuprofen SHOULD NOT be taken by anyone with a history of strokes or heart attacks. Your symptoms are indicative of possible heart problems. Please stop tasking ibuprofen and see your doctor immediately and repeat what you posted here.
