    Help, 1st theft in Vancouver
    Urgent! NEED HELP!

I am a homemaker and a permanent resident, this is the first time I got caught shoplifting $100 wallet and police officer wrote down my personal information and let me leave. The staff took my phone and sign two sheets (one is banned me to go their shop for 2 years and one is about penalty payment). They don’t give me bill, ticket, notice etc.. the police said that the councillor will call me and I will attend 5 days lectures, do community service or donation. Also I need to pay (normally how much of penalty?) and write an apologize letter to the shop. Will I need to give fingerprinting or go to court? Will I receive any letter from court, police station, shop?
If I completed the conviction, will I have any further crime? What is my legal liability now? Should I need get a lawyer to help me immediately?
I'm stupid, felt shame and regret to did was wrong. Will I have any police or criminal records? If yes, when can I destroy my records? I have applied a citizenship (with my child) in Oct 2011 and still waiting to do a written test, will cancel my application? If yes, can I renew my PR card?
Will I travel to USA/Asia now or after conviction? Is there any problem at the border when I come back Canada?

Noticed you posted twice for this. This is your first offence, you will not be fingerprinted. The police explained correctly, you will have to wait till the councillor calls. Don't know what your penalty will be. You will not be going to court. Don't get a lawyer until you hear from the councillor.

The problem is that you are not a Canadian citizen, and as I see it, only a visitor which doesn't look good that way.

Edit: We haven't got all of the answers for this, it is a legal issue and will probably get complicated because you are not a citizen.
