    2006 honda civic troubleshooting
The car will turn over a couple times but will not start. I already put a new battery in the car and "jump starting" makes no difference. How do I prove out that the problem is the starter? Or some other problem?

. Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter--be very thorough.

    . Check for codes.

. Clean the battery terminals and cable connections with abrasive cloth. Also, clean the connections where the negative battery cable attaches to the car's body. Check the cables for corrosion and internal breaks.

. Most auto parts stores will test starters for free.

    . Check for spark.

. Check for fuel--verify that the fuel pump runs when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II).

. Focus on the Crankshaft Position Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor, if the problem persists.
