That needs too be all redone.
    Some things that are wrong:
    Indoor box used outside
    Plumbing pipe and fittings.
    Exposed wires.
Should be 3 wires anyway, not 2.
    GFI Protected?

Many times I put the receptacle on the metal post, eliminating the need for additional Post and conduits.
    Good Luck.

Wow, pictures tell a thousand words. And shows many violations, as Strat mentions.

    Who did this electrical work?

Keep in mind, not just what is seen in photo needs to be replaced, each PVC conduit that is hidden underground, and I am sure at each end of each conduit, something needs to be changed.

    Pastor,

Please keep responses and threads together.

I would like to see what is inside the splice box. Also, you made the comment that is was outside wire?

What "Type" is written on the wires?

We already know that some of your wiring was held together with an alligator clip, now this.

Please "Bite the Bullet" and inform your congregation that the electrical wiring needs to be inspected and corrected by a licensed electrician..

Not to do so at this point given what you have seen and now know borders on crimnal if someone or several get killed because of the wiring on your campus!

    A Big difference.

When an electrician says "pipe", he is talking about what is properly called conduit.

Schedule 40 PVC electrical conduit is grey, never white, it is rated as a raceway, white plumbing (water) pipe is not.

The radius of bends in conduit is governed by the Electrical Code, they are always much larger (radius) than water pipe bends, to allow pulling conductors into the conduit system.

Boxes and enclosures are rated for the environment into which they may be installed, this ranges from dry non hazardous areas through raintight , waterproof, all the way to explosion proof. Materials for both conduit and pipe vary according to what is needed also, "plastic" conduit comes in different wall thicknesses and can include some exotic materials resistant to very nasty environments.
Metal conduit is mostly malleable steel , wall thickness varies and it can be coated with PVC too.
Cutting, threading and bending polished stainless steel schedule 40 conduit is not for the ham-handed or low skilled installer, mistakes are very expensive.

    Yup, big difference
