    Blockage and Sewage Odor
    Hi,

I have a 2-story house on city water and sewer. The master bathroom and secondary bathroom sinks back up to each other and share a single wall on the 2nd floor. The master bath has a double sink with only one of the sinks being used on a regular basis.

For a very long time the master bath had a slight, occasional, lingering sewage odor. But, within the last month the sinks on both sides of the wall have begun backing up into each other whenever water is run. The odor occurs whenever water is run as well and has become much, much stronger. The showers and toilets don't seem to affect the situation. We have used the limited "snake" that comes with some of the drain cleaners in all the sinks, with no success.

Should I rent a better (longer) snake, or is another option potentially as likely to solve my problem of blockage and odor?

    Thanks for any advice,
    Joanne

Disappointed that after 101 views, no one has seen fit to offer me any sound advice about my situation. :-(

I've looked through the list archives and found in answers to other people's questions what seems to possibly be some options to try. Plan to investigate them ASAP...

We are smelling a sewage odor in a bedroom that smells just like when the stinkpipe gets clogged by snow in the winter. The problem is the bathroom does not smell and there are no septic pipes under the floor so I can't identify the source. The smell is definitely septic, not decomposition. If a...

In the last few weeks, there's a sewage odor from the crawl space beneath our house that has got progressively worse. I tried to crawl under but due to health problems I couldn't get to the back of the house. Now I live in Los angeles, so I know it's not a septic tank issue. I'm afraid to call a...
