    Sewage Odor
We are smelling a sewage odor in a bedroom that smells just like when the stinkpipe gets clogged by snow in the winter. The problem is the bathroom does not smell and there are no septic pipes under the floor so I can't identify the source. The smell is definitely septic, not decomposition. If a septic field fails, will the smell back up all the way into the house?

Septic tank or city sewer? Is the smell worse at night? Any noise when you drain of flush a fixture? Is the smell outside as well as in the bedroom? Any plumbing that backs up to the bedroom,(like a bath or utility room?) Did this smell just start or has it been ongoing? Any more details that you can furnish? Back tom you, Tom

Hi Tom, here goes: septic tank, smell same day or night, no noises, smell inside the bedroom only, no backups, smell started about 4 days ago. I am thinking it's a cracked pipe somewhere which is what I am doing now, searching for it. Thanks for any help.

Is there any plumbing in any of the bedroom walls? Have you checked the attic for a open vent pipe? Tell me where you have looked. Back to you, Tom
